Nathaniel "Nate" Silver (1978-) is an American writer and statistician. He develops predictive models for sporting and political events and founded FiveThirtyEight.com and the Silver Bulletin.


If you're using a biased instrument, it doesn't matter how many measurements you take--you're aiming at the wrong target.

The key is in remembering that a model is a tool to help us understand the complexities of the universe, and never a substitute for the universe itself.
