Thomas à Kempis

Thomas à Kempis (ca. 1380-1471) was a Dutch German Catholic priest and writer. He is most well known for the devotional book The Imitation of Christ, which is history's most read and most translated book after the Bible itself.

At the Day of Judgment it will be demanded of us, not what we have read, but what we have done….

At the Day of Judgment it will be demanded of us,… not how well we have spoken, but how holily we have lived.

Be not high-minded, but rather confess thine ignorance.

Endure with Christ, suffer for him, if you wish to reign with him.

First keep the peace within yourself, then you can also bring peace to others.

He who knoweth himself well is vile in his own sight.

Jesus hath many lovers of His heavenly kingdom, but few bearers of His Cross.

No man ruleth safely but that he is willingly ruled.
