Melissa and I went to the island of Oahu, Hawaii, last year . . . and I just now got around to sorting and processing the photos I took. We spent about a week driving around, seeing the sights, and having a great time.
The first set of photos is a bunch of animals and scenery we saw throughout the week. Those are followed by photos from some of the specific places we went. And finally, at the end, some random stuff. Enjoy.
Nature and Stuff
These photos are from a bunch of different places around Oahu, including Ko Olina, Green World Coffee Farm, Kawela Beach, Kualoa Regional Park, Halona Blowhole, Kaimana Beach, Lanikai Beach, and Nu’uanu Pali Lookout. We got to see an endangered Hawaiian monk seal. And chickens.
Dole Plantation
The Dole Plantation is where Dole fruit company was born. Today it is an active pineapple farm and tourist destination with a botanical garden, hedge maze, and more.
Waimea Valley is a historic area on the North Shore of Oahu. The nature park includes hiking trails, a botanical garden, and a waterfall with a swimming hole.
Diamond Head is a volcanic crater located near Waikiki. The Diamond Head State Monument is a park located inside the crater with a hiking trail that leads up to the rim.
The Byodo-In Temple is a “non-practicing Buddhist temple” in the Valley of the Temples Memorial Park in Kahaluu. It is a scale replica of the over 950-year-old Byodo-In Temple in Uji, Japan.
