Former President Reagan Dies

Former President Ronald Reagan (R) died today surrounded by family members at his home in Los Angeles. He was 93.

Before entering the world of politics, Reagan acted in over fifty films between 1937 and 1964. He was president of the Screen Actors Guild from 1947 to 1952.

Having once asked, “What does an actor know about politics?” Reagan was later elected Governor of California in 1967 and served until 1974. He became the 40th President of the United States after prevailing over incumbent Democrat Jimmy Carter in 1980. Reagan served two terms lasting from 1981 to 1989.

In 1994, he announced that he was suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease, a debilitating neurological disorder marked by increasing memory loss and dementia.

Reagan is survived by his wife Nancy, daughter Patti Davis, and sons Ron Jr. and Michael.
